Steading

Messaging Terms

Effective 20 August 2026.

Steading sends text messages for exactly two reasons: to sign you in, and to invite you when a family member adds you. Nothing else.

The Steading application is operated by Zachariah Parry. Both message types are generated automatically by the application; neither is typed by a person, and the number Steading sends from cannot receive conversation.

The messages Steading sends

Steading never sends marketing or promotional text messages. There is no mailing list, no campaign, and nothing to be sold. Steading is a private app used by one family and has no product to advertise.

How you consent

Steading is invite-only. You cannot receive a message from it unless a member of the family has invited you by entering your mobile number, or unless you have entered your own number to sign in.

Consent is given in one of two ways, both of which require your action:

Your number is used to reach you and for no other purpose. It is never sold, shared for advertising, or given to anyone outside the family.

There is no way to opt in by texting a keyword. Steading publishes no text-to-join short code or call to action, because there is nothing to join — the app is closed to everyone outside one family. Consent begins inside the app, in one of the two ways described above.

Frequency

Message frequency varies and is driven entirely by you. Most members receive a message only when they sign in on a new device, which for many people is once or twice a year. There are no recurring or scheduled messages.

Cost

Message and data rates may apply. Steading does not charge for messages; your mobile carrier may, depending on your plan.

Stopping messages

Reply STOP to any message to stop all texts from Steading. You will receive one confirmation and then nothing further.

Reply START to resume, or HELP for help. You can also write to support@steading.family.

Stopping texts does not remove you from the family. It does mean you will need to sign in by email instead, since the sign-in code is the message being stopped.

Carriers

Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery depends on your carrier and your signal, neither of which Steading controls.

Supported carriers

Messages are sent to United States mobile numbers through major carriers, including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and their resellers.

Privacy

How your number and the rest of your information are handled is described in the privacy policy.
